During the pandemic, most people are ordering online to do their shopping in order to stay safe. This means that Amazon, UPS, and FedEx have been busy delivering packages in record numbers. Unfortunately, the huge increase in packages ordered means that the incidents of “porch pirates” (people who steal packages from porches) has also become so prevalent.
If you have a Ring video doorbell, it helps alert you on your phone when a package is delivered to your door. However, you will still need to get the package quickly because many porch pirates are tailing the delivery trucks or are just cruising the streets looking for packages.
If you have the option to have your packages delivered to a nearby business to be picked up later at your convenience, then that is the safest way to make sure you get your package. If you have WiFi and a smart phone, then consider getting the Ring video doorbell if you do not have one already. Using my phone, I can easily see if mail or a package was delivered, and I can even talk to the person at the door when I am not home.
